NAOMI LORD
About

Naomi Lord

Naomi Lord is an interdisciplinary artist, producer and researcher working between the UK and USA. Spanning participatory art, performance, cultural education and community development, her practice explores cultural democracy: who produces culture, whose knowledge is recognised and how people can exercise greater authorship within the places they inhabit.

Through sustained relationships, situated observation and collective enquiry, her work spans artworks, programmes, cultural infrastructure, artist coaching and arts organisation consultation, building agency, belonging and shared cultural life.

A specialist leader in cultural education with expertise in creative health practice, Naomi develops approaches that connect artistic agency, wellbeing and participation through shared making, listening and co-production.

Art, cultural development & place

Her practice has developed through more than two decades of work across theatre, visual and participatory arts, cultural education and community development. Artistic production sits alongside learning, research and the development of environments in which people can make and shape culture together.

As Founder and Director of Creatives Now, she develops creative environments in which children, young people, artists, educators and communities can experiment, make decisions and produce culture.

Current work in Cleveland, OH

Naomi is a director of Leo’s Arts and Music Collaboratory. She also directs a deep storytelling initiative in Hough with the MidTown Collaboration Center, developing belonging and the representation of people and place.

Her independent research practice connects creativity, community and place across post-industrial contexts in the UK and USA.
